Greenhouse Farm

The Greenhouse Project

After years of hard work and planning, the final construction phase of the greenhouse project has been completed. The addition of two new 30’x90’ greenhouses will allow us to grow and test new varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and other veggies. Angela Zimmerman, an American agronomist and AgConnect’s Agriculture Missionary, is managing the greenhouses and workers.

Greenhouse Training

The greenhouse project exists for two reasons, the first of which is to train aspiring growers in greenhouse management. These trainees include students from the neighboring UDG Christian college as well as men and women from the village. Anyone interested in producing more food from greenhouses can visit our greenhouses, work in them, and learn what it takes to manage a greenhouse. This type of education is severely needed. With jobs being scarce, a small greenhouse can generate good income.

Growing for Those in Need

The second reason for the greenhouse project is to grow enough food to give away. Our humanitarian food boxes will help churches’ children’s programs (such as summer Bible school programs), the UDG college summer kitchen, and impoverished locals, especially widows in the village. With support from Calvary Church in Lancaster, PA, we are moving forward with this humanitarian aid food program targeting those less fortunate.

Moving Forward

With the additional greenhouses and opportunities comes an increased need for ministry personnel. We currently have a need for a couple who would serve as house parents at the Moldovan headquarters house. The house parents’ role would include living in the house and providing general care for it while also providing care for guests who stay there in the upper floor dormitories. This would free Angela to focus on greenhouse work and training. If you feel called to become a house parent at our Headquarters House, we would love to speak with you. Contact us to learn more.
