Greater Things in the Midst of Grieving: Executive Director Les Yoder’s Passing

When the Lord impressed Les Yoder with the phrase “greater things” for AgConnect Ministries this past spring of 2023, followed by the diagnosis and treatment of recurring oral cancer in the months that followed, no one knew what that God-given vision fully entailed.  After a successful surgery which removed the oral cancer and provided Les with a new tongue, recovery was looking hopeful.  It appeared to be just a matter of time before Les would be flying overseas and continuing to faithfully spread the love of Jesus.

On Monday, October 30, it was discovered that Les did indeed travel on a magnificent journey, just not a flight we had anticipated so soon.  On a sofa at his hunting camp, comfortably resting with a blanket, he reached his final and most glorious destination and is now in heaven with Jesus.  Les was faithful to be the hands of Christ in Moldova and beyond, and now the hands of Christ are holding him.

Surely, the words of the Apostle Paul resonate with Les’ life on earth:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”  2 Timothy 4:7

We rejoice that Les is with Jesus in heaven and free from pain and suffering, but our hearts also deeply grieve his passing.  In times like these, we hold fast to the promises and character of God.  We know He is good and loving in all His ways, and we know that He does more than we can ask or imagine.  While we don’t yet know what His “greater things” look like for AgConnect Ministries, we fully trust the Lord to faithfully lead us and gently comfort us during this season of grieving.

Please prayerfully lift up Les’ wife Suzanne and their family during this time.  Also, you are welcome to join in the services being held in Les’ remembrance.  Viewing and visitation will take place at Petra Church (565 Airport Rd, New Holland, PA 17557) on Sunday, November 5 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.  An additional visitation will be held at Petra Church on Monday, November 6 from 10-11am, followed by a Celebration of Life Service.  The interment will follow at Petra Memorial Park.
