Board of Directors Spotlight: Herb Graybill

From the Board of Directors at AgConnect Ministries, we pray your 2023 is off to a Christ-centered and fruitful start!  The current member of the board we’d like to spotlight is Herb Graybill, who has been part of AgConnect Ministries since its early beginnings.

Herb can best be described as dedicated, adventurous, and concerned for others.  He and his wife Elaine, who live in southern Lancaster County (near Buck Motorsports Park), are blessed to have three daughters, three sons-in-law, and four grandchildren.  They attend Wakefield Vineyard Church in Wakefield, PA.  When Herb and Elaine have some quality leisure time to spend together, they enjoy camping with their horses, hunting, and snowmobiling.

Herb is certainly no stranger to the world of agriculture.  He currently works for Homestead Nutrition in New Holland, PA as a sales consultant in dairy cow and equine nutrition, and he also works as an agronomist.  Additionally, he and his wife have a small trucking and hauling company which provides transportation and hauling services to the Amish community.  Prior to consulting, Herb spent 25 years as a dairy farmer on the family farm, milking 60 Holsteins and farming 125 acres.

AgConnect Ministries is the perfect fit for Herb, not only due to his agricultural passion and experience, but because of his heart for Christ-driven agricultural education for those in need.  Herb reflects on his first experiences in international agricultural outreach:

“My involvement with Moldova started back when Agri Service Moldova began in 2004, after several men went there to understand what Moldova’s needs were and what kind of help we could provide.  Agri Service Moldova was born out of that trip, and I became a board member.  I had traveled to Kazakhstan two times prior, conducting dairy herd management seminars and cow reproductive health, so those two trips inspired me to use what I learned in my own dairy agriculture career to help those who simply don’t have the educational resources to learn modern agriculture.”

Herb traveled back to Moldova several times during those early years.  In the process, God strengthened his passion for helping less privileged farmers.  And now, as a member of AgConnect Ministries’ Board of Directors, Herb is able to contribute the knowledge and wisdom he has gained from his first-hand experiences.

Herb’s vision for AgConnect Ministries is to continue providing educational support for families in need.  With better agricultural practices, families can move past basic survival until they eventually grow more than they consume.  They can then sell their excess to provide a better income for themselves.  “In Moldova, families are torn apart by economics,” states Herb.  “If we can help families grow more food for both themselves and their communities, families will stay in Moldova together.”

“God has commissioned farmers to feed the world,” Herb continues.  “God has called Christian farmers to feed the world both food and the BREAD of Life.”  This is Herb’s passion, and AgConnect Ministries is filling this need!
