HEIFER PROJECT

The Heifer Project was started to be able to supply a dairy animal to families who need milk for their families, while also providing a potential source of income. Placing a heifer which is soon to give birth provides this opportunity. Typically, a two to three months supply of feed is also provided until the animal is producing enough milk to adequately purchase the necessary feed. The goal is that the family in turn would be able to provide an offspring to give to another family,
thus multiplying this effort.

Future plans are to expand this project to other species such as sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, rabbits, ect. This is a way to help an individual family in a very significant way, and also as a way to impact others around them. The cost to administer this program at this time is approximately $1,000 per animal.
