While this may not seem to be a natural fit to an agriculture ministry, our support of Fair Haven Camp started in 1984 when Les and Suzanne Yoder went with a small group of youth from their church for a missions work week at the camp. They have continued to take a group of youth from their church each year since then.
The past several years has seen the group grow to over 50 people going to spend a week cleaning, painting, clearing brush, doing carpentry and electric repairs to prepare the camp for the summer camping season as well as the other programs offered by Fair Haven Camp.
A significant amount of time and energy has gone into the Horse Program offered by Fair Haven Camp. This important program offers year round camps and after school opportunities that greatly enhances the total program offered by Fair Haven Camp. Building and repairing fences, improving the riding arena, making repairs to the barn and the horse stalls are among the many projects that are done by the group.
Current projects include the establishment of 18 acres of pasture from reclaimed woodland, a much needed addition for the Horse Program. There has been a development plan for enlarging, enhancing and improving Fair Haven Camp’s Horse Program, and AgConnect Ministries has been an integral part of this project.
